Re.Genesis

Perhaps surprisingly this has nothing to do with first book of the Bible and everything to do with a well known 'prog rock' group!!! I had the opportunity to go to a concert in London to watch a cover band playing the music of one of trhe favourite bands of my youth ... Genesis ... And I was not disappointed ... Great evening of quality musicianship and music! One of the things that struck me was that it was the quality of the music that superceded the 'names' of the band ... It didn't matter that it was not the original band members, we were left savouring the quality of the music ... I wonder how we might reflect on this? I was reading in 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 last week ... Where the apostle Paul wrote 'thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.' This is where we need to get to that place of trusting ... That what people are left with, after an e

A good reminder of the basics!

One of the great things about living at a Mission headquarters is the access we have to hear what the Lord is doing in people's lives ... Whether that be experienced missionaries, new workers or short term volunteers ... This week was no different. One of our voluntary helpers led us to look afresh at James 5:16 which says '...confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.' A simple testimony brought home a profound truth which is so powerful, yet so rarely experienced in the body. True humility and vulnerability ... Allowing the Spirit freedom to go into the dark places, reveal the truth, shine light and bring things into the Light, that we might confess before the Lord and our closest friends ... To know healing AND a powerful and effective prayer life .. Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? Maybe it is so simple that we too often miss out, figuring that it must be more comp

Losing teeth ... What can I learn from this?

My littlest one has spent the last few weeks 'worrying' her two front teeth ... Knowing that things don't feel right ... But not having the courage to do what was needed (despite much agitation by her siblings, and Father, and many assurances that it would not hurt!!) ... eventually one fell out! ... then, realising that it didn't hurt, she swiftly pulled out the other! So what can I learn from this? How many times to I allow myself to listen to my doubts and fears, which then prevent me from doing what I know I should ... And all that despite the constant affirmation of the scriptures and the Spirit within telling me to trust .. 'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me, Jesus!' Trust and obey ... Simple isn't it??!!

Eurocon #2

What a challenge we face in Europe ... But what a Father we serve, who equips us for the task! Discussing ways in which we can engage all those who live in europe, demonstrating the reality of the gospel message and sharing the hope we have in Christ! The key seems quite simple ... Seek the Lord ... And do all that He says!

Be refreshed, be relevant!!

Well ... Another month and another conference! This time with the wider WEC teams working in Europe. We have come together to reflect on the contemporary scene in Europe ... and, more importantly, to seek the mind of the Lord as to how He would shape us in our lives and ministries in this continent such that we are doing what He would have us do .. in a relevant way. How awesome too, to hear stories of Jesus, and all that He has been doing in Europe since we last met as a group, totally awe inspiring ... from the small intimate testimonies to the larger impossible things that He has accomplished ... all testiment to His greatness!! Trusting to hear the leading of the Lord!
