I have nothing to add to these two stories ... Suffice to say I trust the integrity of the source. I only publish these to give you the opportunity to "see" what God is doing around the world to draw people to Himself ... you may disagree with them, or you may have another plausible explanation - that is fine. What matters is what God is doing in someone's life due to the external circumstances as much as the external circumstances themselves .... He is at work to bring forth eternal life!
Each story raises a lot of questions for me ... As I hope they do for you! God's blessing and favouritism, the use of seemingly mundane human action to draw someone to Himself, why send a flood in the first place? Etc etc. It is good to ask questions, and please don't be afraid to ask God directly!
A Christian family’s experience after the devastating flood which affected 68 of Thailand’s 77 provinces: they saw their field of tapioca completely destroyed. They had photos taken of the damage in order to claim compensation, but when they started digging, they were amazed to find a bumper crop whereas all the other fields around them were destroyed!
A Bedouin patient repeatedly tells everyone that he has been to all sorts of doctors who did not respect him, took his money, and it did not cure him. At one hospital he has not paid a penny, has been treated with love, respect and he has been cured. He acknowledges that it is Jesus who healed him and wants to follow him. But... when he returns to his village where he will be the only follower of Christ.
Who are you? I have never been a great fan of labels when it comes to describing members of the body of Christ. eg. he is anglican, she is Baptist, they are Charismatic, etc. etc. I remember once causing a man to become increasingly hot under the collar when he asked me who I was? To which I replied I was a disciple (follower) of Jesus. He was meaning which Church did I attend (presumably so he could classify me and decide whether I was bona fide or not) and my answer did not bring him peace, but I refused to go any further. Why? Because, as I said, I am not a great fan of labels, but also because for me there is a very important distinction between primarily identifying myself with Jesus and identifying myself with Church. Of course, I recognise that by becoming a follower of Jesus I become part of the body of Christ, but that can be very distinct from being a member of a Church. To me this is the crucial difference between vibrant faith and dusty religion. ...
